Police in Taraba State have launched a manhunt for a 24-year-old woman, Maimuna, following the reported death of her husband, Haruna Ishaka, 30, in Maigoje village, Gashaka Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred around 11:15 p.m. on Monday at the couple’s residence in Mai Idanu Ward, where the woman allegedly severed her husband’s genitals during a domestic dispute.

Sources cited by The Sun said the couple, both of Fulani extraction, had been experiencing marital disagreements over allegations that Ishaka was interacting with young girls outside their marriage.

Maimuna was reportedly said to have warned her husband repeatedly about the alleged conduct, but the disagreements allegedly continued.

Ishaka reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday. His remains were subsequently buried in accordance with Islamic rites, while his wife was said to have fled the community after the incident.

The Taraba State Police Command confirmed awareness of the report on Friday, saying officers were moving to the scene.

“I am aware of the report. The DPO is heading to the location as we speak,” the command’s spokesperson, Victor Mshelizah, said.

The police said investigations were ongoing and that efforts were being made to locate and apprehend the fleeing suspect.
