Nigerian socialite and nightlife entrepreneur, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has alleged that singer Davido’s repeated losses at the Grammy Awards are the result of deliberate attempts by some Western music executives to pressure the artiste into compromising his personal values.
Cubana Chief Priest made the claim following Davido’s loss in the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 Grammy Awards, where South African singer Tyla emerged winner.
Reacting via an Instagram post on Sunday, Cubana Chief Priest suggested that Davido was being targeted because of his refusal to conform to what he described as “demonic” practices within the Western music industry. He alleged that such pressure was aimed at breaking the singer’s resolve and forcing him to submit to the will of influential foreign executives.
He urged Davido to remain steadfast, uphold his beliefs, and not allow the setback to affect his momentum or creative output. Encouraging the artiste to move on quickly, he advised him to continue releasing music and entertaining his fans.
“Oyibo dey do everything possible to break a strong man so he can do their demonic sh*t with them but he will never do it,” Cubana Chief Priest wrote. “Heads up brother, open the bag and drop another hot one for us. E no dey finish, gbedu na water.”
Davido, one of Nigeria’s most globally recognised music stars, has received multiple Grammy nominations in recent years but is yet to secure a win at the awards ceremony.
The claims by Cubana Chief Priest remain unverified, and neither the Recording Academy nor Davido has officially responded to the allegations.
