Dangote Refinery has increased the gantry price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) to ₦1,750 per litre, marking another upward adjustment in the country’s energy market.
The new rate represents a ₦250 increase from the previous ₦1,500 per litre, which itself had been raised from ₦1,430 just about a week earlier, underscoring the rapid pace of price changes in the downstream petroleum sector.
A source within the refinery confirmed to Petroleumprice.ng that the adjustment took immediate effect, noting that the price was moved directly from ₦1,500 to ₦1,750 per litre due to mounting cost pressures.
Industry checks indicate that the increase is driven by a combination of rising global crude oil prices, foreign exchange constraints, and higher operational costs, including feedstock sourcing and logistics.
As a deregulated product, diesel pricing remains highly responsive to international market conditions.
The latest hike is expected to have widespread implications, particularly for businesses and households that depend on diesel for power generation and transportation, as higher fuel costs could translate into increased operating expenses and added pressure on inflation.
