Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has admitted that he and his associates tapped the phone of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

El-Rufai made the remark during an interview on Arise News on Friday evening.

The former governor, who had reportedly avoided an attempted arrest at the Abuja airport on Thursday, accused Ribadu of orchestrating what he described as a botched arrest through the Department of State Services (DSS).

When asked how he became aware of the alleged plot, El-Rufai said they had tapped Ribadu’s phone and listened to his conversations.

Reminded during the interview that phone tapping is criminal, he responded, “They thought they’re the only ones who know how to tap phones.”
