The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a man identified as Nuhu Dahiru for allegedly impersonating an EFCC officer and obtaining N3 million from unsuspecting members of the public through false pretences.

Dahiru was arrested by operatives of the EFCC’s Maiduguri Zonal Directorate in Tashan Bama, along Bama Road, Maiduguri, Borno State.

The anti-graft agency said the arrest followed credible intelligence indicating that the suspect had been posing as one of its officers and using the false identity to defraud members of the public.

The EFCC said investigators recovered N3 million from Dahiru at the time of his arrest.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned before a court after investigators conclude their probe into the allegations.

The Commission warned members of the public to be cautious of individuals who falsely claim to be EFCC officials for the purpose of obtaining money or other benefits.
