A 17-year-old girl, Ihechidere Favour Uka, has allegedly been killed by her employer, identified as Ibekwe Ezinne Mary, 30, after a dispute at a cosmetics shop in Lagos State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
According to accounts from the victim’s family, Ihechidere, who worked as a sales assistant at the shop, was sent by her employer to get an item. When she returned later than expected, an argument reportedly broke out between both parties.
Family sources alleged that during the confrontation, the employer slapped the teenager twice, after which Ihechidere slapped her once in response. The suspect was said to have reacted by stabbing the girl in the chest with a kitchen knife.
Ihechidere reportedly lost a significant amount of blood and later died from her injuries.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage, with renewed calls for justice and growing concern over the safety, welfare, and treatment of underage workers in the state.
Family members disclosed that the suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody, where she allegedly confessed to the act. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter as investigations continue.
