Nigerian socialite and entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest, born Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu does not fully trust him because of his previous political association with former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Cubana Chief Priest made the revelation during an interview with TikTok influencer Peller, where he spoke about his political journey and involvement during the 2023 general elections.
According to him, his support for Peter Obi during the presidential election continues to shape how he is viewed within political circles, despite his current alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during the interview, he said:
“Let me tell you, as I am now, Tinubu doesn’t really trust me as an Igbo man. He looks at me with one eye. He is still like ‘this one that has worked for Peter Obi before’.”
The businessman explained that he previously worked for Peter Obi during the 2023 election campaign but later distanced himself because he believes Obi would not be able to defeat President Tinubu in a future presidential contest.
Cubana Chief Priest also disclosed that he once obtained an APC House of Representatives nomination form to contest for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State but failed to secure the party’s ticket.
