President Bola Tinubu has nominated Mr Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr Doris Anite-Uzoka in the role.

The development was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

As part of the cabinet reshuffle, Anite-Uzoka has been redeployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State. The reassignment marks her third ministerial posting under the current administration.

In a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu formally transmitted Oyedele’s nomination for confirmation by the Senate.

Prior to his nomination, Oyedele served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led efforts aimed at restructuring and modernising Nigeria’s tax framework.

Oyedele, 50, is an economist, accountant, and public policy specialist with more than 20 years of professional experience. He spent 22 years at PwC, joining the firm in 2001 and rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.

If confirmed by the Senate, Oyedele is expected to play a key role in advancing the administration’s fiscal and tax reform agenda.
