The United States Embassy Abuja has issued a security alert to its citizens in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, warning of a high potential for protests on Wednesday following the current conflict involving Iran.

In a statement posted on its official X handle, the Embassy said previous demonstrations by some groups over the ongoing conflict had led to violent clashes with Nigerian security forces.

“The Embassy strongly recommends that all U.S. citizens in Abuja remain in their residences on Wednesday, March 4,” the statement said.

In a separate notice, the Embassy announced the cancellation of all visa appointments earlier scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2026, citing security concerns.

“Due to the potential for protests in Abuja, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja has cancelled all visa appointments on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Applicants will be contacted with information on how to reschedule. Please monitor our website and social media channels for further updates,” the notice read.

For emergency assistance, U.S. citizens were advised to contact the Embassy at +234 209 461 4328 or visit its official website for further guidance.

The Embassy urged citizens to remain vigilant and continue monitoring its website and social media platforms for updates.
