FIFA is preparing a major compensation package for clubs whose players will feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to reports from Melchor Ruiz of El Partidazo de COPE, clubs could receive more than €9,000 per player per day during the tournament. The payments will apply not only to clubs that own the players’ contracts, but also to teams currently hosting players on loan.

The 2026 World Cup, set to take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will run from June 11 to July 19 — spanning 38 days.

With the competition expanding to 48 teams for the first time, clubs are expected to lose players for longer periods, increasing concerns around fixture congestion and player workload.

FIFA’s compensation programme is aimed at easing those concerns while rewarding clubs for releasing players for international duty at football’s biggest tournament.
