The family of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has confirmed the abduction of his younger sister, Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her twin sons by suspected gunmen in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The victims were reportedly kidnapped in the early hours of Wednesday while Mrs John-Paul was taking her children to school.
In a statement issued by Adelabu’s media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, the family said the incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026.
According to the statement, armed men intercepted Mrs John-Paul, 43, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, before taking them to an undisclosed location.
The incident has sparked concern among family members and residents, amid growing worries over security in the area.
Mrs John-Paul previously worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before voluntarily resigning from service last year. She had reportedly relocated to Ibadan with her children and was making preparations to join her husband in the United States.
The family disclosed that security agencies were immediately notified following the abduction and have since commenced investigations aimed at rescuing the victims and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
While appealing for the safe return of the abductees, the family urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid sharing unverified information that could undermine ongoing rescue efforts.
The statement also called on Nigerians to support the family with prayers and encouraged anyone with credible information about the incident to report it through appropriate security channels.
The family pledged its continued cooperation with law enforcement authorities and assured the public that updates would be provided as developments emerge.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Ayanlade Olayinka, said he could not immediately confirm the incident.
