The Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Professor Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for recovering N27 million belonging to the institution.
In a letter addressed to the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, Kehinde praised the Commission for its professionalism, resilience, and commitment in successfully recovering the funds.
The money was originally paid by the university in 2011 for a property arrangement intended to establish the institution’s Abuja liaison office and guest house. However, multiple administrative and legal challenges stalled the project, making it impossible for the university to take possession of the buildings.
With no resolution in sight, the university sought the intervention of the EFCC. Following a two-year investigation, the Commission successfully recovered the funds, which were remitted to the university in April 2026.
Kehinde described the recovery as a major institutional achievement for the university, noting that the EFCC’s intervention demonstrated its commitment to accountability, justice, and the protection of public resources.
According to him, the successful recovery has further strengthened public confidence in the Commission’s fight against economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.
He also disclosed that, beyond recovering and remitting the funds, the EFCC has charged the suspects involved in the matter to court.
The Vice Chancellor concluded by stating that the Commission’s intervention had reinforced the university’s confidence in the integrity and effectiveness of the EFCC.
