The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) says 40.1 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) were produced locally in January, representing over 60 per cent of the 75 million litres planned for supply during the period.

In its January report, the regulator disclosed that national PMS consumption stood at an average of 60.2 million litres per day. It added that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and other marketers imported an average of 24.8 million litres of PMS daily to bridge supply gaps.

Overall, the report stated that about 64.9 million litres of PMS were supplied into the domestic market during the month.

Meanwhile, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced that it has reached its full designed processing capacity of 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

The refinery said the milestone followed the optimisation of its Crude Distillation Unit and Motor Spirit production block, strengthening steady-state operations at what is regarded as Africa’s largest oil refining facility.

It added that it has commenced a 72-hour performance test run in collaboration with its technology licensor, UOP, to validate operational efficiency and ensure compliance with global standards.

In December, the refinery announced plans to supply 50 million litres of PMS daily to the Nigerian market between December 2025 and January 2026 to guarantee uninterrupted fuel availability during the festive season and into the New Year.

President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, disclosed the supply plan during a visit by the South-South Development Commission to the refinery and the Dangote Fertiliser complex.

Dangote stated that the refinery would begin making 50 million litres of PMS available daily from December 1.
